Any true fans of the Diablo franchise will understand just how elated we felt when Blizzcon 2019 opened up with a gruesomely beautiful cinematic, announcing none other than Diablo IV . As we saw Lilith summoned in a terrible pact of blood, we knew that Blizzard had listened to the concerns of many hardcore fans and made some serious changes to the series.
The next installment would not be as light-hearted as Diablo III and would be a massive throwback to the ever-popular beginnings of the franchise, pulling inspiration from its much darker days. That being said, not all features that were announced got us jumping in excitement.
10 We're Excited: PVP
Despite the promises that were made, PvP as a game mode never made it to Diablo III . It's a feature that fans have been asking Blizzard to implement for some time now.
When it was announced at Blizzcon 2019 that Diablo IV would feature the highly demanded opportunity to go in and slash your friends into bloodied pieces, the crowd went absolutely wild. 9 We're Worried: Mounts
When it comes to some of the more useless features announced for the game, mounts definitely feel like one of them. Although the world of Diablo IV is supposedly pretty big and mounts would, therefore, make traveling easier, they just seem like another superficial, cosmetic, addition.
Developers also stated that characters could perform special attacks when getting off their mounts, but if anything it just feels like an extra feature that was brought in to fluff up the game's feature list.

Old school fans rejoice, for Diablo II 's mechanics are making a big return in Diablo IV . From highly similar skill trees to runes, the developers took a lot of inspiration from the popular earlier installment of the game.
We don't have that much information about how these features will work in essence, but they'll definitely give the game a more authentic feel, as well as the encourage players to discover the best available builds while fighting in a harsh and challenging environment.

Don't get us wrong: we definitely want all of the previous character classes back to Diablo IV . Although we've only seen the barbarian, sorceress (or mage) and the druid make their return, we suspect the paladin, amazon, assassin, and necromancer will no doubt make their appearances as well.
However, for a new game, we, of course, expect new content. Hopefully, Blizzard won't just recycle old classes, but actually come up with something new and original that will make players excited to replay the game.
4 We're Excited: Character Customization
For an RPG, the Diablo series has seriously lacked in customization throughout the years. Characters mostly had the same look, although in Diablo III you could customize the look of your gear on a purely superficial level.
Well, now you can actually choose what each character looks like, from skin tone to hair color, and even to their accessories, all the details can be changed according to how you want your hero to look like. Once your general appearance has been defined, you can pick any of the available classes without it defining how your character appears. Gear, too, will be open for customization.
3 We're Worried: Lack Of Challenge
When thinking about some of the best features in the Diablo franchise, challenge is one of the main fan favorites. There's nothing more rewarding than encountering an extremely terrifying boss, only to beat it down with hard work.
Diablo II was particularly infamous for its difficult opponents that moved quickly and dealt tons of burst damage. Since then, the series has suffered from a lack of proper challenge, which definitely characterized Diablo III . Whether Diablo IV will deliver where its predecessor failed is unknown, but we hope the franchise will decide to go back to its roots and give us high risk and high reward boss battles.
2 We're Excited: Diablo II's Darkness
Overall, one of the best things about Diablo IV is how it looks. The color scheme is drastically different from Diablo III, which was much more colorful. Now, the dungeons are plunged into darkness just like in Diablo II, and the colors are less vibrant.
An almost grey filter has been placed on the screen, to give it a realistic yet highly fantastical aesthetic. Diablo IV returns to its gothic horror RPG roots, with more blood and horror embedded into the game, as well as absolutely stunning biomes you can discover at your own pace. Hopefully, Blizzard will understand that the fans will always look for something new and fresh as well, and not just a remastered version of a beloved game.
